The 16th HDMS will be held between July 2-4, 2018 at the Golden Bay Beach Hotel in Larnaca, Cyprus (https://goldenbay.com.cy/) with a half-day session at the New Campus of the University of Cyprus in Nicosia, Cyprus (https://www.ucy.ac.cy/). Topics of interest include, but are not limited to: * Core database technologies (e.g., query processing and optimization, storage and indexing, database concurrency control, OLTP and OLAP processing). * Non-traditional data management architectures (e.g., data stream management, cloud data management, peer-to-peer systems, mobile data management, blockchain databases). * Data management applications (e.g., geographical information systems, data warehouses, social networks, scientific databases, IoT, crowd sourcing). * Models and languages for the management of data (e.g., XML, RDF, probabilistic databases, meta-data management, multi-media, graph data management). * Techniques for high performance and scalability in the management of data (e.g., distributed data processing, hardware accelerators, new hardware technologies). * Confluence of data management with: information retrieval, knowledge management, natural language processing, and data mining. * Other aspects of modern information systems (e.g., security, privacy, user interfaces, energy use minimization). HDMS 2018 will feature the following tracks: (A) Research Track (B) Tutorial Track (C) Demonstration Track (D) Students Poster Track: A separate call is available on the conference website. For tracks (A)-(C) the following evaluation principles will apply: (i) Submissions recently accepted at top international conferences or journals, in the areas listed under the topics of interest, are automatically accepted. The venues that qualify for this track will be announced at notification time, but includes at this time SIGMOD, VLDB, PODS, ICDE, SIGIR, IEEE Big Data, VLDBJ, IEEE TKDE and IEEE TPDS. Authors are urged to submit their papers in the original format and length. (ii) Original work and accepted papers in other venues will undergo a separate evaluation by the Program Committee. Authors must format their submissions according to the official ACM Proceedings format. The submission length should not exceed twelve (12) pages for (A) and four (4) pages for both (B) and (C), respectively. Submissions must be submitted electronically in PDF to: https://cmt3.research.microsoft.com/HDMS2018/ - Research/Demo: Submit under the "Research Track" on CMT. - Tutorial: Submit under the "Tutorial Track" on CMT. - Student Poster: Submit under the "Poster Track" on CMT.
